Everybody gets a few opportunities in their lifetime to become something and really make a difference. You don't want to be that person who gets locked in fear and can't invest in opportunities.
If you want to achieve true success in business and achieve anything great in your life, by now, you probably know that it doesn’t come easy.
There are many forms of resistance that we, as entrepreneurs, face on a daily basis and they’re all trying their best to get us to stop taking action. If they can keep us where we are and force us to stop progressing, they have done their job.
At the root of all of this resistance lies the culprit for most (if not all) of our inaction.
Fear will keep you frozen.
It will cause you to stay where you are and keep you from taking action and progressing toward your big goals.
It seems that everyone wants to compare the risks of losing, but no one wants to compare the risk of not getting the game. Fear will keep you on the sidelines and keep you from living up to your full potential.
We’ve learned a thing or two about fear and how to overcome it and it really comes down to these two things – risk and reps.
People get locked up in fear of the big things because they let fear dictate them in the small things.
Risk separates the high performers from the average.
High performers understand that risk is the process to achieving greatness.
Average people don't achieve anything because they play it safe. They give into fear and stay in the shadows so long that they forget how to take action.
Playing the game at all means you're going to win some games, and you're going to lose others. You can't expect to always have a guarantee of success, but you also can’t let fear keep you out of the game entirely.
If that's you, you'll never make decisions, and you don't deserve to win.
People don’t view their time, energy, and money spent as investments. They only focus on the potential losses instead of the potential rewards. Getting to the end of your life and having regret because you never did anything is a greater risk than just choosing to take action.
The people who are the most successful and achieve anything great—the wealthiest people in the world—they understand the power of risk.
Fear robs you of your potential because it limits your appetite for action. Use reps to deal with fear in all your decision-making. It’s like going to the gym and putting in the reps that train your muscles. Taking action repeatedly trains fear out of the central nervous system.
If you’re afraid of risking money, find small investments where you can start taking those risks. If you're afraid of risking your time, go serve and give your time to someone else.
People have big dreams. But at the end of the day, their appetite for action is so low that they just stay stuck where they are.
Thinking your way out of fear isn’t the best way to deal with it. You need to jump off the cliff and put yourself in a position where your body has to respond as a means of self-preservation – back yourself into a corner.
Everyone wants to compare their risk of losing, but nobody wants to compare their risk of not getting in the game.
The biggest risk is letting your intellect take over and talk yourself off the cliff. Your instincts are designed to optimize for safety, not for progress and your brain doesn’t care about your progress. It’s designed to keep you from getting eaten alive and that’s exactly why you can’t always trust it.
At the end of the day, you can only trust the person who’s been there and who can tell you how to get to where you want to be.
